Age 66, died on September 25, 2008 of ovarian cancer, following a ten-year battle with the disease. Carolyn was born on July 3, 1942, in Taylor Michigan, the daughter of the late Marie (Hanson) & Vern Thompson. Survivors include her beloved husband and light of her life for over 45 years, Paul Benivegna; their children Dr. Vincent (Susan), Angela (James) Ceely, and USAF Lt. Colonel Matthew ( Tina); four grandsons, Nathan, Matthew, Andrew, and Michael. Carolyn is also survived by siblings Harry (Doreen) Thompson, Joyce Smith, and Howard(Carol) Thompson and many nieces and nephews and by her sister-in-law, Mary Benivegna.
Though her career in the corporate world and as the founder of a non-profit ovarian cancer organization was gratifying, Carolyn felt that her greatest achievements were in raising three beautiful children with her husband, Paul, and in having so many dear friends. She loved life and lived every day to its fullest.
According to her wishes, Carolyn is being cremated and will be interred at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, Novi MI. Memorial service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 24505 Meadowbrook Rd. – Novi MI 48375www.holyfamilynovi.org, on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 11:00 AM.
