Obituary

March 11, 1927 – May 18, 2024

Caroline Falvo, age 97, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2024. Born on March 11, 1927, in Italy, Caroline was the cherished daughter of Francesco Bossio and Marina Galiardi. At the age of six, she embarked on a new life in the United States with her family, after leaving Amantea, Italy. Once she arrived, Caroline was a resident of Dearborn for many years, Caroline later moved to Northville before spending her final six years at Cedarbrook Senior Living.

Caroline was the third of five siblings, having grown up with her sisters Rosie, Frances, and Mary, and her brother Mario. She shared a close bond with her siblings, a bond that only strengthened through the years.

In 1948, Caroline married Orlando Falvo. Together, they built a beautiful life and welcomed their son Jack in 1950. Caroline was a devoted wife and mother, known for her fierce independence, kindness, and generosity for her family. The couple shared many happy years together until Orlando's passing in 1982. Though she never remarried, Caroline found joy and fulfillment in her family and community.

She is survived by her brother Mario, her daughter-in-law Kristyn Falvo, and her four grandchildren: Michele Kendall (John), Nicholas Falvo (Amie), Dana Haller (Jeffrey), and Jonathon Falvo (Sara). Caroline was also blessed with her great-grandchildren: Jack, Katherine, Caroline, William, and one great-grandchild expected this summer. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Caroline is preceded in death by her parents, Francesco and Marina; her husband, Orlando; her son, Jack; and her sisters, Rosie, Frances, and Mary.

Caroline's life was marked by hard work and dedication. She worked as a computer coder for Ford Motor Company for 24 years, a remarkable achievement that demonstrated her pioneering spirit in a field mostly dominated by men. She also spent time serving her community by volunteering at Oakwood Hospital. Caroline enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family and a competitive game of bocce.
