Carol Marie Tolhurst, age 74, of South Lyon, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026.
Born on December 25, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, Carol carried her love and pride for her hometown throughout her life. She was deeply proud of her Native American heritage and held close the strength and spirit it represented. Detroit was always in her heart, and she often spoke of it with affection and pride.
Carol devoted much of her life to working in healthcare, where she found purpose in caring for others. Her compassion, dedication, and steady presence touched many lives over the years.
Family was the center of Carol's world. She loved traveling with her family, especially to Hawaii and on cruises, where she found joy in being near the ocean. The sound of the waves and the warmth of the sun brought her peace, and those trips created cherished memories that will be treasured forever. She loved her children and grandchildren deeply, and nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by them. Her warmth, strength, and unwavering love will live on in each of them.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Carol is survived by her beloved husband, David; her daughters, Jean and Christina; her cherished grandchildren, Devin, Jessica, Kayla, and Thomas; and her precious great-grandson, Liam. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Barbara Thomson. Her memory will always remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Visitation for Carol will be at the O'Brien Sullivan funeral home at 41555 Grand River Ave, Novi, MI. 48375, on Sunday, February 22, from 1:00 p.m. until her funeral service at 5:30 p.m.
