Barry Robert Westervelt, age 80, of Pembroke Pines, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026. He was born on February 15, 1945, in Brighton, Michigan, to the late Thelma and Edwin Westervelt.
Barry proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was a man of many talents and interests, enjoying building projects, fishing, golfing in his younger years, drawing, and painting. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Barry was an avid fan of all sports, especially the Detroit teams he loyally followed throughout his life.
Barry was devoted to his family and was married to the love of his life, Pamela Westervelt, for 58 wonderful years. He was a loving father to Jay Robert Westervelt and a proud grandfather to Taylor Morgan Shea and Bailey McKenna Westervelt, as well as a cherished great-grandfather to Ellie Jay Shea. Known affectionately as "Pops," Barry's grandchildren and great-granddaughter were truly his pride and joy.
Barry is also survived by his sisters Pat Wagnitz and Mary Huling, brothers-in-law Roland Alan Trombley and Robert Harry Trombley, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Visitation for Barry will be held on Friday, January 16, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home. His funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 17, at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, family and friends will travel in procession to Wixom Cemetery, 3320 W. Maple Rd., Wixom, MI 48393, for burial at 1:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow at Baker's of Milford, located at 2025 S. Milford Rd., Milford, MI 48381.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Barry's memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
Barry's legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him.
