BARBARA VIERA HAINES (3/27/1936-10/21/2023)

Born in Bay City, Michigan, Barbara was the fourth of seven children of John and Margaret Viera. The closely knit family operated a dry cleaning and tailoring business. Barbara played piano through high school, and was the Bay County champion pianist for three consecutive years from 1953-1955. Barbara also attended Michigan State University, where she met her husband, Derwood Haines (Woody); They were married for 63 years. Barbara and Woody had one child, Derwood, Jr. Barbara enjoyed a long career as a real estate agent and broker, and was a fixture for many decades in Detroit social life.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Derwood and Theresa Haines, three grandchildren, Derwood III, Redding, and Roan Haines, brothers John and Edwin Viera, and 12 nieces and nephews, Paul Viera, Jr., Denise Viera, Tony Viera, Ronald Viera, Theresa O'Brien, John Viera, Maria Thomas, Michelle Viera, Stephanie Viera, David Viera, Meg Viera, and Amy Howell. She is preceded in death by her husband Woody, brothers Paul, Leonard, and Robert Viera, and sister, Frances Viera.

A memorial will be held at the O'Brien Sullivan Funeral Home on Saturday, November 11th, visitation from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, service from 11:30am -12:30 pm.
