In Loving Memory of Barbara Greenberg

Barbara, born on March 29, 1950, in Detroit, passed away after a courageous battle with dementia. Her legacy of intelligence, service, faith, and deep love for her family and community will continue in the lives she touched.

Barbara graduated valedictorian of her high school class and went on to study geology and geography at Wayne State University. She was bright, deeply curious about the natural world, and never lost her love of learning.

Barbara was a devoted wife, a loving mother to five children, and a cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren. Her family was central to her life, as were the values of faith, education, responsibility, and service that guided her throughout it.

Gardening was Barbara's great passion, and she brought that love to her community as well as her own backyard. An Advanced Master Gardener, she served on the Novi Beautification Commission and volunteered actively with the Master Gardener Association of Wayne County, in addition to giving her time at her children's schools. She organized wildflower rescues and perennial exchanges, bringing together neighbors who shared her love of plants and the natural world.

Barbara's Catholic faith was a defining part of her life. She was active in her church, Bible study, and prayer communities, and her faith informed her strong commitment to service and to caring for others.

Barbara will be remembered for her curiosity, her strong convictions, her generosity, and her remarkable ability to form deep friendships wherever she went. She was deeply involved in the communities she joined and was always willing to contribute her time, energy, and talents. Her many friends knew her as warm, engaged, devout, and genuinely interested in the lives of the people around her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Alan; her children, Mark, David (Anita), Rebecca (Joe), Lizzie (Brian), and Sarah (Tony); seven grandchildren; sisters Marian (Mike), Judy (Victor), and Vicki (Scott); and many more family and friends who will remember her with love.

She is predeceased by her sister Rita (Gary) and son-in-law Drew.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Tollgate Farm Operational Endowment.
