She was born in Detroit on June 18, 1929 to George and Hildred (Neph) Karl
On November 19, 1949 she married James Gibbons. Barbara spent her adult life as the nurturing matriarch of her large family. She was a long time member of St. Valentines Parish.

Visitation Friday 3-9, Rosary at 7:00p.m. at O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River, Novi 248-348-1800 Instate Saturday at St. Michael Church, 11441 Hubbard, Livonia at 10:30 until time of funeral liturgy at 11:00
