Obituary

Athanasios "Tommy" Peristeris, age 77, of Northville, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 6, 1947, in Mouzaki, Greece, Tommy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who brought joy, warmth, and positivity to everyone he met. A man of deep faith, he was a devoted follower of the Greek Orthodox Church and cherished traveling with his wife to monasteries throughout Greece, strengthening his spiritual connection.

Tommy was the beloved husband of Pagona and a proud father to Apostolos (Alicia), Elena (Andy), and Tonia. He was a cherished grandfather to Pagona (Bobby), Alexia, Athanasios "Tommy," Alexia, and Aris. He was the son of the late Apostolos and Eleni Peristeris and the beloved brother of Louiza, the late Aliki, the late Dimitrios, Efthimia, and Fotios. He was also a dear uncle to many, including Yiannis (Eleni) Peristeris, John (Jamie) Korogiannis, Jimmy (Jill) Korogiannis, and Tonia (Chris) Meier.

A passionate entrepreneur, Tommy built a legacy in the restaurant industry through the Parthenon restaurants, where he was known for his boundless hospitality and ability to bring people together through his love of food. His drive for success was always rooted in his deep love and care for his family and customers. When not working, he found immense joy in spending time with his loved ones, sharing stories, cooking, exercising, and watching sports. His zest for life and unwavering dedication to those he cared for will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation will take place at Nativity of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church (39851 Five Mile Rd., Plymouth, MI 48170) on Saturday, February 22, at 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM. A luncheon will follow at Big Tommy's Parthenon (40380 Grand River Ave., Novi, MI 48375). A private family burial will be held on Tuesday, February 25.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to support the Peristeris Family Endowed Fund for Pediatric Research at the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children's Hospital – 799813 representing hope for children affected by life-threatening or chronic diseases. It supports investigators who have dedicated their lives to finding solutions, accelerating innovative ideas, and bringing concepts closer to real cures.

Tommy's warmth, thoughtfulness, humor, and love will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of his family and friends.
