Obituary

Anna Mae Taggart, age 78, passed away on April 15, 2026, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was born on June 9, 1947, in Flint, Michigan.

Anna was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and sister, remembered for her strength, independence, and unwavering faith. A graduate of Bentley High School, she went on to build a long and dedicated career with AT&T before her retirement.

She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures—cheering on Michigan State University basketball and the Detroit Tigers, tending to her garden, and traveling to warm destinations where she was happiest near the beach and water in general. In her younger years, Anna cherished time spent up North at her cabins on Secord Lake, creating lasting memories with family.

Anna was an active member of Ward Church and held her faith close in all aspects of her life, frequently saying, “Jesus has always been there for me and stayed with me through various trials.” Above all, she treasured time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her beloved granddog, Huey. She was immensely proud of her children’s accomplishments, including their college graduations from Lawrence Technical University and Michigan State University.

She is survived by her brother, Frank Roat; her daughter, Keley Taggart; her daughter-in-law, Kim; and her granddaughters, Kaleigh and Kore Taggart. She was preceded in death by her son, Patrick Taggart Jr.; her step-brother, Donald L. Martin Jr.; her mother, Helen Skuda; her father, Frank Roat and her sister, Bernadette.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at O’Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Ave, Novi, MI, 48374.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Anna’s name to Best Friends Animal Society at www.bestfriends.org.

Anna will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her kind heart, her resilience and independence, fighting spirit, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
