Alwynne Reese Bales age 71, of Grand Rapids and formerly of Northville, Michigan, passed away peacefully, Friday January 11, 2013 after an 18 year fight with cancer.  She returned to God's glory at her home with family members by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Louise Reese of Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan.  Surviving are her husband of 47 years John A. Bales, her children Shawn Marie (Douglas A.) Doyle, John Anthony (Susila R.) Bales, Amy Suzanne (Robert B.) Lathrop and sister Sandra Schulz and brothers Anthony (Debra) and Leonard (Denise) Reese.  Also surviving are nine grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.The Mass of Christian Burial for Alwynne will be offered on Wednesday morning, January 16, 2013 at 11:00am at St. James Catholic Church, 46325 Ten Mile Road, Novi, Michigan with Rev. James F. Cronk as celebrant.  Visitation will take place at O' Brien Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Avenue Novi, Michigan on Tuesday January 15, 2013 from 4-9pm and at the church one hour prior to the mass on Wednesday. Anyone considering an expression of sympathy is asked to contribute to St. James Catholic Church or a charity of their choice.
