Aili Margareta Lee of Bloomfield Twp, Michigan, died suddenly at her home on January 30, 2012. She was born September 26, 1938, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, to Lauri and Hannah Korolainen. She was a long time employee of General Motors, serving at GMAC, and later with a division of General Motors' overseas operations.
While employed at GM Aili earned her BA and MA degrees, enabling her to move on to a second career as a counselor upon retiring from GM.
From a young age until her death, Aili loved skiing, politics, reading, going to the movies, cooking, knitting, and was passionate about her family and the family dogs.
Aili is survived by her sisters, Anna Suddaby of Burlington, Ontario, and Maria (James) Kuhn, of Farmington Hills, Michigan. She is also survived by six loving nieces and nephews: Richard Suddaby, Linda Poirier, Nancy Brown, Cynthia Haffey, Mary (Stevens) Archer, and David Suddaby, as well as twelve great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River, Novi, 248 348-1800, on Friday, February 10, 2012, from 3 – 9. The memorial service celebrating Aili's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Funeral Home.
