Adele Bagnasco Born: August 15, 1931 – Detroit, MI Died: December 7, 2024
Adele Bagnasco, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Godmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024, at the age of 93. Adele was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 15, 1931, and spent her early years in the Linwood and Puritan area, where she was raised by a loving family that instilled in her a deep sense of compassion and kindness. Adele was an exceptional student, attending Healy Elementary School and later Immaculata High School, where she graduated with honors. She continued her education at the University of Detroit, where fate intervened at a bus stop, and she met her future husband, Angelo Bagnasco.
Adele's career began as a secretary at a prominent Detroit bank, but her life truly blossomed when she married Angelo. Together, they founded a business, and Adele took on the crucial roles of payroll and bookkeeping while raising their four mischievous sons. She was the heart of the family, always providing love, guidance, and unwavering support.
As a devoted wife and mother, Adele managed her household with grace and care. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was an active participant at both St. Scholastica and St. Mary parishes. Adele's home was known for its delicious homemade Italian dishes, and her world-renowned cheesecake became a family favorite. She often shared recipes, though she had a talent for leaving out one secret ingredient to keep the magic alive.
Adele's love for her family extended beyond the walls of her home. She attended countless Little League games to cheer on her sons and was always prepared with knitted hats, mittens, and scarves for her children, who inevitably lost them. Summers were filled with bike rides, often ending with a treat at Dairy Queen. She also dedicated her time to volunteering with St. Scholastica, Benedictine, and Catholic Central schools, always involved in her children's activities.
Adele was extremely passionate about sending birthday cards and thankyou notes to all of her family and extended family.
After being widowed, Adele continued to live an active life. She worked for Alex Delvecchio Enterprises until the age of 79, and was a cherished member of the Red Hats club in Commerce. Her generosity knew no bounds, as she frequently drove others who were unable to get around and visited the sick, offering her kindness and support. She also volunteered at Huron Valley Hospital and remained deeply involved in her community.
One of Adele's greatest joys was playing Gin Rummy with her sons, where she was known for her strategic skills and frequent victories. But above all, Adele's most memorable trait was her devotion to prayer. She spent much of her life praying the Rosary, asking the Blessed Virgin Mary to protect her children, extended family, and friends.
