Always Loved – Forever Missed – Never Forgotten On November 23, 2020, surrounded by his family, Thomas Guy Reiter, age 70, passed away peacefully at his home. Tom was born in South Bend, Indiana on September 5, 1950, to Marion and Jean Reiter; he was the third of six children. After graduating from Jackson High School in 1968, he attended Indiana University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in 1973. Tom began his career in the Chemical Industry in Fort Wayne, Indiana. On June 25, 1976, he married the love of his life, Maria Jaurigue. They were happily married 44 years and raised three sons. Tom was a devoted father to Craig Reiter, Ryan (Heather) Reiter and Corey Reiter. Tom was a loving grandfather and was brought great joy by his four beautiful granddaughters, Charlotte, Clementine, Ava and Ainsley. Nothing made Tom happier and more proud than seeing his older granddaughters Charlotte and Clementine catch a fish or target shoot with precision. In 1983, Tom’s employment transferred his family to the Detroit Metro Area where they resided for 37 years. Tom was employed by Exxon Mobil, in addition he furthered his education by completing a post graduate Bachelor of Arts in Japanese Studies and Language from Madonna University, a Master of Engineering Degree in Technical Japanese from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA from Indiana University. Tom excelled academically while working full time, traveling the globe, and raising a family. Tom was an active member of the Charles A. Fellows Chapter, Michigan Trout Unlimited and supported the Pere Marquette Watershed Council. In his free time, Tom enjoyed traveling, fly fishing, pheasant hunting and the art of bartending for family and friends. He will always be remembered for the gifts he left his family: love, pride in work, the value of education and the understanding of nature. Tom is survived by all his brothers: Clark Reiter, Steve Reiter, Bret Reiter, Tim Reiter, and Kent Reiter.
