Robert E. Pegg
April 6, 1927 - January 6, 2022
ROBERT EUGENE PEGG 4/06/1927-1/06/2022 Robert (Bob) Eugene Pegg was born on April 6, 1927 in Detroit, MI, to Robert and Ina Pigg of Detroit. He was active in sports and Boy Scouts, becoming a competitive swimmer at Mackenzie High School, and graduating with the Class of ’45. Although stricken with polio at 17, he never let that stop him from doing the sports he loved, even if it meant that he had to modify how he played, or anything else he wanted to pursue. It was that determination and strength that served Bob well in life and was an inspiration to others. In 1948, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Jean Brite. They shared an amazing life for almost 66 years until we lost Jean in 2014. They began married life in Detroit, then moving to Inkster, Livonia, West Bloomfield and finally to Novi as their family grew. With a growing family, Bob earned his BBA from Eastern Michigan in 1967. They were blessed with a great family, dear friends and neighbors. Bob and Jean were able to travel extensively and had many amazing adventures. Bob was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and supported their activities every chance he had. He is survived by his five children Michael (Kathy) Pegg, Kathy (Bob) Fritz, Beth (Dave) Hinman, Timothy (Kimberly) Pegg and Scott (Stephanie) Pegg; grandchildren Christa (Eric) Fritz- Nogas, Andy (Faith) Fritz, Rob Fritz, Todd Fritz, Jennifer (Stephen) Budd, Melissa (Grant) Munson, Kaitlyn (Tom) Dobberteen, Collin Hinman, Emily (Lee) Pegg-Byrd, Leigh Anne Pegg, Christoper Pegg, Sean Pegg and Katie Pegg; as well as great-grandchildren Samantha Fritz, Jack Nogas, Sydney Nogas, Brandon Budd, Ethan Munson, Alexa Munson, Phoebe Fritz, Zeke Fritz and Langdon Byrd. Bob had a long and successful career with Ford Motor Company and Ford Tractor (with a brief stint at Chrysler in the ‘60s), retiring in 1984. After retirement, he continued to stay in touch with his Ford colleagues as they met for regular golf and lunch dates. He stayed active with golf, bowling and home improvement projects. Bob loved Michigan football, but could show support for State when it was needed. He was extremely talented with furniture refinishing and built the finished basement in their Novi home so his grandkids and great grandkids could have a place to play. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family where he leaves behind many memories of fun times, making Christmas special, family trips with kids crammed into a station wagon, and his great sense of humor. A memorial service/gathering will be held at O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Avenue, Novi, 248-348-1800 on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM followed by a service at 12:00 PM. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Bob’s memory to the Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/donate
