Jerry Thomas Coonce
June 12, 1941 - July 30, 2019
Jerry is survived by his wife, Jane, of 55 years, beloved children Teresa (Bobby) Mullenax, Tom, and Debi (Scott) Ritter; grandchildren whom he adored, Emma, CJ and Samantha Mullenax; his brother-in-law, Robert (Marilyn) Fox, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jerry was born on June 12, 1941 in Highland Park, MI to Gerald and Louise (James) Coonce. He graduated from Redford Union High School in 1959. He was employed as a tool & die maker with Ekstrom Industries in Farmington Hills and then happily retired in 2007. After retirement, Jerry continued to lead an active life attending many events for his grandchildren including countless hockey, volleyball and tennis games. He was a permanent fixture in their lives. His family and friends are what gave Jerry the most joy. For over 38 years, Jerry and Jane have been residents of Novi where they raised their children. Jerry was very active in many Novi events, activities and organizations through the years. His giving attitude began many years ago with coordinating the umpire program for the Novi Little League Baseball, coaching the Holy Family Church softball team and being an involved parent with his children’s activities, too. Jerry was a long-time member of the Novi Lions Club and board member for Penrickton Center for Blind Children in Taylor, MI. He also enjoyed his early morning trips to the Novi Sports Club and all of the friends he made there. His laugh, genuine spirit and joking nature will be remembered by all who had the chance to meet him. To honor Jerry’s giving spirit and in lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Penrickton Center for Blind Children. Click here to contribute
