Ames, William Paul Age 75 January 24, 2016, in San Diego, CA. Bill was born on August 24, 1940 in Michigan to the late Gladys(Hertz) and Horace Ames. Mr. Ames used the GI bill and graduated Suma Cum Laude from San Diego State University with a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts and later obtained his Masters Degree. He taught at La Jolla High School, coached swimming and enjoyed announcing the varsity basketball and football games. Bill was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He left behind a special needs daughter, Christine Elizabeth who has since passed, Jan 25, 2018. He is survived by two sisters; Dorothy (Dot) Ames Petee and Carol Cosper Holloway and several nieces and nephew who dearly loved their uncle Bill. Also survived by his boyhood friends of 70 years from Royal Oak, Dr. Merritt Hougen, Norman Jensen and Blake Patterson. He treasured his San Diego family whom he taught with; Linda and David Ponsford. Bill will be greatly missed. A funeral was held in California and a memorial graveside service will be held 2 pm Friday August 17, 2018 at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens Novi.
