Thomas "Tom" Matlas, passed on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015 at age 74.
Beloved husband of Susan for 46 years.
Loving father of Lisa (Robert) Nichols and Laura (Kevin) Meek.
Amazing grandfather of Joshua, Jacob, Julia, Thomas and Rachel.
Dear brother of the late Michael (Beverly) Matlas.
Survived by many brother and sister in laws and nieces and nephews.
After earning a Master's degree from Wayne State University, Tom became a Licensed Professional Counselor. A pioneer and proven leader in the Employee Assistance Professionals (EAP) field, his career included critical incident stress management, substance abuse and family interventions, military consultations and other mental health programs. Employers included MHN, DTE Energy, Henry Ford Health System, MichCon and American Natural Resources.
Visitation at O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River in Novi, (248) 348-1800, Friday 2-8 PM with prayers at 7 PM.
In state Saturday at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 N. Haggerty Rd in Plymouth, 10 AM until funeral liturgy at 10:30 AM.
