Rio Dominick Della Mora passed away peacefully on February 20,2021. He was born in Hamtramck, MI on September 13, 1927 to Luigi and Regina (Cassin) Della Mora. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, with whom he celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary September 30, 2020. They raised nine children Paul, Michael (Mary), Ann Bristol (deceased, Chuck), Marie Petersen (J.C.), David (Robin), Amy Pearce (Tommy), Julie English (Bill), Jean Hoglund (Brian), Lisa Rotta (Steve). He was the cherished, beloved grandfather of 27, and great grandfather of 20. He enjoyed attending their many activities, and was known for his bear hug squeezes. Rio is also survived by many nieces and nephews who shared fond memories of his warm smile and love of them.
He worked for 40 years at Detroit Edison, starting out as a repairman and finishing his career as a system analyst.
Rio was a long time parishioner of St. Mary's of Redford, Detroit. He was a past President of the Dads Club, and ran the bingo games there for many years. He was a kind hearted, caring man who would help where he was needed. Rio enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be deeply missed.
Due to Covid-19 a celebration of life will be postponed till a future date.
