Richard Edward McDevitt, age 88, suddenly, February 24, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Lea Elizabeth Keating. Loving father of Christine (Steve), Eileen , Maureen , Richard, (deceased) Anne, and David. Brother of Mary Reid, Betty (Ollie) Boss, and Sr. Mary McDevitt, I.H.M, (Nancy). Brother-in-law of Tom Keating (Jan) Beloved Grandfather of Brandon and Ryan Potocsky. Significant other of Audrey Murtland.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Richard attended Jesu Elementary school in Detroit, St. Thomas Military Academy, in St. Paul, MN where he rose to the rank of General and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He attended The University of Detroit and earned a B. S. in Mathematics and Ph. B. (Juris Doctor). He was President of The Student Bar Association, Toastmaster of the Annual Senior Banquet at The University of Detroit School of Law graduating in 1954. He was an avid sports fan, both college and professional, expert woodworker, lover of antiques and spent 30 years working on his beloved "CEMRAD" cottage in Bay View (named by using the first initial of each of his children (in age order).
He will certainly be missed by his family and friends but will be remembered for being outrageously smart, intellectually curious, cautious, funny and lover of all social events.
