Matthew William Whalen Age 23. With broken hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Matthew Whalen on September 27, 2021. Matthew was born to his parents the late, Mark Whalen, and Bethany Cassar-Whalen. Matthew leaves behind his brother, Nicholas and, sister, Lindsay, Uncle Chris and Aunt Diane (Jonathon) (late Jeffrey), Uncle Jeff and Aunt Jennifer (Sloan, Dylan, Luke), Uncle Dave (late Aunt Colleen) (Mary, Danny, Scott and Michael), Uncle Bill, Uncle Dan and Aunt Karen (Danny and Katie), along with many extended family and friends. Matthew was born in Brighton, Michigan and graduated from Brighton High School in 2016. In 2019, he ventured off to start a new journey in Rowlett, Texas, where he loved living and made many new friends. His family and friends would tell you that Matthew's smile and laughter could light up a room. His humor and impersonations could make you laugh out loud and his devotion to his family and friends was immense. Growing up, Matthew loved spending time with his late grandparents, Francois and Linda Cassar, who doted on him watching him grow. He tried just about every sport and sang in the choir, but ultimately, music was his passion. He played the drums and guitar with his friends for years in the basement. He was also an avid gamer as well. Matthew will be deeply missed by all that knew him and will always be in our hearts and prayers. Fly High Matt! Until we meet again! Visitation will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a short service at 6:00 p.m. at the O'Brien Sullivan Funeral Home located at 41555 Grand River Novi, Michigan.
