Obituary

His legacy...Lloyd Haycock, age 93, passed away June 27, 2018. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 22, 1924, to Lorne and Lenora (Neynaber) Haycock. Lloyd married his high school sweetheart, Betty (Leahy) Haycock on November 15, 1944. Mr. Haycock was a lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II and retired from Detroit Edison after 40 years, where he was an electrical engineer (BSEE). His passion for flying continued as a private pilot long after piloting P-51s in the service. Lloyd enjoyed many years as an amateur radio hobbyist; building his own radios and communicating with others around the world. Dancing and golf were also much-enjoyed activities.

His family...Lloyd was known for always putting his family first. He was the finest example of a father and will be greatly missed by his children; Gerald (Ann) Haycock, Philip (Diane) Haycock, and Janell (Robert) Harbaugh as well as his grandchildren; Michael (Kathy) Haycock, Edward (Molly) Haycock, Meghan (Aaron) Oaks, Katlyn Haycock, and Jack Harbaugh. Lloyd is also a great-grandfather to Eric (Amanda), Sarah, Zachary, Emma and Ellie Haycock and Evelyn and Julie Oaks and is a great-great-grandfather to Charlotte. Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty Haycock, and sister, Corinne Rapin.

His farewell...Visitation will be held on Monday, July 2, 2018, between 4 pm and 8 pm with a rosary being prayed at 7 pm at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River, Novi. For information please call (248) 348-1800. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 3 at 10:30 am preceded by an in-state at 10 am at St. James Catholic Church, 46325 West 10 Mile Road in Novi. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan.
