John E. (Jack) Trainor of Northville, age 77, passed away peacefully with family at his side on July 1, 2019. Jack was the beloved husband for 53 years of Nancy (Nowack) Trainor, loving father of Christopher Trainor and Daniel (Claudia Berg) Trainor. Cherished "Papa" to Jack, Jeffrey, Lauren, Alexis, and Ryan Trainor. Special brother-in-law of Kathy and Ed Hart, brother-in law of Barbara Cooper and treasured uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Jack was born in McKeesport, PA, and lived in Royal Oak, MI from early childhood until early adulthood. He graduated from St. Mary's of Royal Oak High School in 1960, and he then earned a B.S. Finance and an M.B.A. from the University of Detroit. He was a proud brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Jack worked in the fields of accounting and finance and retired from Chrysler Corporation after 30 years of service.
He loved sports, especially golf, and was thrilled to have played Pebble Beach on his 65th birthday with his two sons. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Cy and Dolores Trainor, in-laws Frank and Helen Nowack, and daughter-in-law Shelley (Foley) Trainor.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Friday, July 19, 2019, at O'Brien-Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Avenue, Novi, MI 48375 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church,( 133 Orchard Dr., Northville, MI 48167) with visitation from 10 am until time of mass.
