Janet Scheuher-Nalezyty, a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, and aunt passed away on June 21, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, selflessness, and unwavering strength. She was born on May 16, 1953, to the late George and Johanna Scheuher, and was a guiding light in the lives of those she touched. Janet's presence brought warmth, compassion, and a deep sense of devotion to her family and community. For over 35 years, Janet was the loving and devoted wife of Gary, a partnership built on a foundation of trust, love, and mutual support. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family and created countless cherished memories. Janet's love and dedication extended to her two daughters, Kimberly (Ian) and Marie (Bruce), who brought immeasurable joy to her life. She was their guiding force, always putting their needs before her own, and teaching them the importance of love, compassion, and resilience. Janet was a cherished sister to Joanne (Edward), John, and their families, including her niece Karen and nephew Brian. She provided them with unwavering support, friendship, and love throughout their lives. She cherished the bond they shared and was always there to offer a listening ear, a comforting presence, and a source of strength. Her role as an aunt brought her great joy, and she embraced it with open arms. Janet's love for nature and plants was evident in her life. She found solace and peace in the beauty of the natural world, and her green thumb was a testament to her nurturing spirit. As the rock of her family, Janet selflessly cared for everyone around her. She consistently put others' needs before her own, ensuring their happiness and well-being. Even at gatherings she hosted, she would be the last to sit and eat, making sure that everyone else was attended to. Her kindness, generosity, and immense strength were a shining example for all who knew her. Janet's faith was an integral part of her life, and she found solace and inspiration through her active involvement in St. James Catholic Church in Novi. She shared her beautiful voice with the congregation, singing at church services and filling the sacred space with her melodious tones. Janet received her Bachelor Degree from Michigan State University and Master’s Degree from Wayne State University, and then she started her career as a Landscape Architect and finished as a Senior Planner. Professionally, Janet excelled in her career as a City Planner. With a master's degree in urban planning, she became the lead City Planner for the City of Dearborn, where her passion for creating vibrant, thriving communities was able to shine through. Her dedication to her work and her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others earned her respect and admiration from colleagues and community members alike. Janet's warmth, kindness, and strength endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community. A visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on June 25th at O'Brien Sullivan Funeral Home in Novi, with a Rosary beginning at 6:30 pm. On June 26th, her Funeral Mass will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church in South Lyon. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Janet will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. Janet Scheuher-Nalezyty's life was a testament to the power of love, selflessness, and unwavering faith.
