Irene Maza passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021. Born in Hamtramck on August 8, 1925. Despite skipping school to see Frank Sinatra at the State Theater, she graduated with honors from Fordson High School. She met Frank, the love of her life, at a dance at a Ukrainian Hall in Detroit. They married on June 1, 1946 and remained devoted to each other for 65 years until Frank's death in 2011. Her life revolved around her community, church and especially her family. She was a Master Gardener and a voracious reader taking particular pleasure in biographies and mysteries.
Preceded in death by her husband Frank and son Michael (Jean) Maza.
Dearest mother of Tom Maza (Susan Rice), Jim Maza (Dianne Schwartz), Peggy (Rick) Camp, Beth Maza (Mark Saunders), Sue (Jim) Hulteen. Adored grandmother of Lydia Maza (Jacob) Grass, Philip (Katie) Maza, Ramona Maza (Tom Magarian), Lauren (Danny) Brennan, Kate Camp (Phil Johnson), Scott Hulteen (Dana Wilson), Jamie Hulteen, Alex Saunders, Claire Saunders, Kiri Maza and Ellie Maza. Great grandmother of Will and Frankie Grass, Travis, Allissa, Kailyn, Levina, Raiya and Elaida Maza, Tommy and Frankie Magarian, Madison and Brooks Brennan.
A memorial service will take place on Monday, July 19, 2021. A gathering of friends and family at the Church of the Holy Family (24505 Meadowbrook Rd, Novi MI) at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial mass at 10:30 AM. Inurnment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery (4200 Belford Rd, Holly MI) at 1:30 PM.
