Gerald "Jerry" T. Murray passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2024, in Livonia, Michigan, at the age of 82. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Peter E. Murray and Elizabeth O'Connor, and his brother, Jack (Carol) Murray. He is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Dawn, his children Peter (Lisa) Murray and Pam Murray, and his stepchildren Sherri (Dan) Wisniewski and Jeff (Tracy) Williams. Cherished grandfather to Emma, Gwen, Peter, Audrey, Jack, and Kate, Jerry took immense pride in watching his grandchildren thrive and took joy in all of their activities. He is also survived by his brother, Don Murray.
Born and raised in Detroit, Jerry's journey of service and dedication began with the U.S. Navy and continued throughout his 33-year career at Ford Motor Company's world headquarters. An enthusiast of all things nautical and mechanical, Jerry was a passionate member of The Ford Yacht Club for 50 years and served as its commodore in 1986. He found fulfillment on the water and had a deep love for sailing, a pastime that brought him lasting friendships and joy. A dedicated restorer, Jerry meticulously brought his 1931 Ford Model A back to life and devoted countless hours to restoring his treasured 1948 Chris-Craft. A member of the Gearheads Car Club of Michigan, he could often be found sharing his passion for classic cars and lending a hand to fellow enthusiasts.
Jerry had a gift for tinkering, spending countless hours working on anything mechanical. His talents were put to good use at The Ford Yacht Club, where he was always quick to help with projects. Even after being diagnosed with mesothelioma, Jerry's spirit remained strong, and he continued to support the club in any way he could.

Visitation will be held at O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Avenue, Novi, on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Blue Gavel Service at 6:30 PM. He will lie in state at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 39020 Five Mile Road, Livonia, on Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Jerry will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
