Obituary

Doris Osborn Dormandy passed away on May 12, 2019. She was born on April 6, 1927, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Clyde and Elsie Osborn.

She graduated from Baldwin High School on Long Island, New York, and from Russell Sage College in Troy, New York. It was while living in Troy that she met her husband of 70 years, Gilbert Dormandy.

Doris was passionate about nutrition and health. She spent her life studying how food and supplements could improve Gil's and her health. She was a substitute Home Economics teacher in the Philadelphia schools for over 30 years. Doris spent the past couple of years enjoying time with her friends at Rose Court in Fox Run where she attended concerts and especially loved playing bingo. She loved displaying her bingo prizes in her room and always had a stash of chocolate (won at bingo) to offer her guests.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Carol (John) Jackson, Sharon (Joe) Vitella, and Kim Dormandy. Nana to Gary (Stephanie) Jackson, Tom (Jonathan) Jackson, Mark Jackson, Megan (Larry) Amati, Greg (Dana) Jacoski, Kaitlin (Michael) Arizmendi, Alex Jacoski, Josh (Angel) Turner, and Ben Turner. Great-grandmother to Vann, Cadenn, Brycenn, Larcynn, Maddox, Evelyn, Lucas, Quinn, Caleb, Wyatt and Nolan.

A memorial service will be held at Meadowbrook Congregational Church in Novi, Michigan; on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at 11:00 A.M.
