David Allen Schall January 7, 1950 - April 28, 2023

David Allen Schall, passed peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2023 in Farmington Hills at the age of 73.
Dave was born on January 7th, 1950 and grew up in Westland, Michigan. He graduated in 1968 from John Glenn High school where he first met Margaret, his future wife of 52 years. Dave and Margaret married on May 29, 1971 and went on to raise their 4 children in the cities of Wayne and Farmington Hills, Michigan.
Dave attended Eastern Michigan University where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Music Education in 1972. He worked in prototype engineering at Massey-Ferguson for 8 years. Dave worked at General Motors for 32 years, 16 of those years working in service engineering, responsible for serviceability for multiple vehicle platforms. Created service requirements, oversaw development of service information, labor times for warranty work and liaised with insurance companies to ensure good ratings. Dave spent another 16 years in purchasing tactical operations, working with trouble suppliers. Required resolving manufacturing and supply chain issues that threatened supply of parts to the assembly plants. His career included travel to Germany, France, Canada and 35 states. Dave retired in 2016.
Dave volunteered his time to playing the organ at mass starting when he was in high school and continuing for the next 40 years. He also helped with the adult and children church choirs.
From age 10 onward, Dave loved tinkering around the house including working in his workshop and garage on his cars and other various equipment such as lawn mowers and washing machines, even pianos and other musical instruments. Dave really enjoyed retirement life, spending much of his time at the family lake cottage in Mid- Michigan with Margaret, relaxing and doing his favorite hobbies of gardening and restorations. He especially loved having the rest of his family visit them at the cottage and cherished the family vacations throughout the years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Dorothy Schall and his mother and father-in-law, Charles and Flora Bliven.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Margaret, his 4 children Marie (Mike), Dave, Michael, and Mark (Julia) 7 grandchildren, Nicole, Stephen, Michael, Nathaniel, Greyson, Samantha, and Lucas, 6 siblings, Diane (Bob), Donna, Donald, Dorothy (Phil), Dan (Lucie), and Matt (Sandy), brothers and sister-in-law Charles, Nancy and Leroy Bliven, nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.
A visitation for Dave will take place at the O'Brien-Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Ave. Novi, MI 48375 on Wednesday May 3rd starting at 2pm until 8pm with a rosary at 7 pm.
A funeral mass will be held for Dave on Thursday May 4th at Holy Family Church, 24505 Meadowbrook Rd. Novi, MI 48375 with an instate period beginning at 10:00 AM and the funeral liturgy at 10:30 AM. He will be laid to rest at Parkview Cemetery in Livonia.
