Fecho, Darrell A. December 24, 2021. Age 72. Loving fiancee` of Lorrie Motorojescu. Dear uncle of Carolyn, Andrew, Connie, Leann and Debbie. Brother-in law of Cynthia Fecho. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary (Yuhasz) Fecho, brothers, Charles (Sharon) Fecho and Robert Fecho. Darrell was born in Dearborn, MI on January 18, 1949. Mr. Fecho was a Michigan State Alumnus where he was known as Si Mitchell on the campus radio station, was also avid Michigan State football and basketball fan. He was a precinct delegate in Oakland County for many years.
Darrell Fecho of Novi died on December 24, 2021, after a period of failing health. After a short career as a radio personality, Mr. Fecho embarked on a 45-year career as a successful municipal administrator and planning consultant for many Southeast Michigan communities including his hometown of Melvindale and the City of Trenton, Michigan. He served as Township Manager for Grosse Ile, Brighton and Scio Townships and City Manager for Rockwood. For McKenna Associates, Mr. Fecho served as senior principal planner advising mayors, supervisors, planning commissions and city councils on master planning and zoning in many Michigan communities: Beverly Hills, Canton, Hamburg and Royal Oak Townships, and also Bay City, Garden City, and Lincoln Park.
Mr. Fecho was known for his absolute integrity and effective concern for the common good. His broad expertise included computer system technology, public infrastructure planning and municipal finance and budgeting. He was also well known to his clients and colleagues for his ability to get major projects funded and completed as well as his day-to-day supervision and administration. Mr. Fecho administered the development of at least three new municipal wastewater systems – a legacy that will serve the public health for many, many decades.
He was a lifetime member of the International City Managers Association and the Michigan and American Association of Planning and American Institute of Certified Planners. Memorial contributions can be made to American Heart Association.
A native of Melvindale, Michigan he was predeceased by his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his fiancée Lorrie Motorojescu, and nieces and nephews. Darrell received both his undergraduate and master's degree from Michigan State University. He remained an intensely loyal lifetime Spartan football and basketball fan as well as a 60 year extremely knowledgeable baseball follower of the Detroit Tigers.
