Barbara DeLazzer

February 19, 1944 – June 15, 2021

Loving mother of Jeanine (Robert) Streight and Claudine (Derek) Durkee.

Adoring grandmother of Caleb.

Dear daughter of the late George and Barbara Ahern.

Barbara leaves behind many close friends, most especially Eileen Faherty who was her lifelong friend and "sister."

Barbara at heart was a proud New Yorker. She grew up in Queens and was a proud alumni of St. John's University. Although she ultimately spent more of her years in Michigan, she retained her New York accent throughout her life.

While she loved being a New Yorker, she also loved to travel with beautiful northern Michigan being one of her favorite destinations.

Two of her most beloved individuals in this world were her Grandson Caleb and her furry cat friend Ava.

Barbara was a die-hard MSU fan, the sport did not matter she was going to cheer on the green and white! Another one of her passions was reading. She was an avid reader with mysteries and true crime being her favorite genre.

Barbara was a teacher for many years, mostly at Montessori schools.

A memorial mass will be held for Barbara at Holy Family Catholic Church in Novi MI on June 29th. A memorial gathering period at 10:00 AM with the memorial mass starting at 10:30 AM.

In lieu of donations, please take a moment to tell the special people in your life you love them, hug them a little tighter and a little longer, and remember a special time you spent with our mom and yours.
