Audrey Jean Bolstrum

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Audrey Jean Bolstrum. Born on June 8, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, Audrey lived a life defined by compassion, faith, and unwavering love for those around her. She passed peacefully on January 30, 2025, in Novi, Michigan, bringing her journey on earth to a close and beginning her eternal life in heaven. To know Audrey was to be cared for in the most genuine and heartfelt way. Her passion in life was rooted in caring for her family, friends, and even acquaintances. She had an incredible gift for making everyone feel valued and cherished. Her smile could light up a room, and her warm hugs had the power to chase away even the darkest of days. Audrey’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her countless years of volunteering at her church enriched not only the parish but her own soul. Her devotion to the rosary and her role as a sacristan at St. John Bosco exemplified her deep spiritual connection. Her proudest moments revolved around her children and grandchildren. She would light up like a firefly whenever she saw them, taking a deep interest in their lives and accomplishments. Audrey’s legacy lives on in her children, Sue (Brian) Adams, Joe (Tracy) Bolstrum, and Dan (Chris) Bolstrum; and her cherished grandchildren, Alex, Ben, Dominick, Emma, Jake, Abby, and Lily. Audrey was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe; her parents, Richard and Vera Swoboda; her sister, Patricia Marr; and her brother, Richard Swoboda. While their absence was deeply felt, Audrey now rejoices in being reunited with them, laughing and dancing in heaven’s embrace. Her life was filled with simple joys—music, prayer, and time spent with her family. Audrey had a remarkable ability to lift spirits, often reminding others that "it could always be worse." Her optimism was a guiding light, and her conversations were always focused on learning about others, never dwelling on herself. Audrey’s professional life included time as an administrative assistant at Flint Ink, where she was admired for her dedication and work ethic. Yet her most important role was always as a loving mother and grandmother, where she made everyone around her feel seen, supported, and loved. In honoring Audrey’s wishes, there will be no funeral or formal ceremony. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is free from discomfort, now in the arms of those who went before her. Heaven is a little brighter now that Audrey is there. Memorial donations in Audrey’s memory can be made to Angela Hospice, or to a charity of your choice. Audrey’s love, compassion, and faith will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched and the example she set for finding joy and gratitude in every moment.
