Obituary

Albert Elmer Wilfong, also known as 'Dick', passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019 just 10 days before his 100th birthday. Al was born near Leipsic in Orange County, Indiana on Halloween, October 31, 1919 the son of Grover Wilfong and Bessie Hayes. Albert served in the Army Air Corp in the 37th Air Depot servicing propellers in Casablanca, Africa in World War II. After he returned, he married Hazel Gee on July 18, 1947.

Having grown up on a farm, Albert was very handy. He helped build the family home and did major renovations as well as other maintenance. He was employed as a salesman for a variety of companies. Albert was very active at the First Baptist Church of Royal Oak. He and his wife, Hazel square danced, among other activities. He also bowled in a bowling league until he was 92.

Friends and family remember his humor and his fondness for children. He always delighted that little kids came to the door to "celebrate" his birthday (actually, they were trick or treating). He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. His wife, Hazel, predeceased Albert in 2002. He leaves a son, Roger (Grace) Wilfong; a daughter Nancy (Bill) Boggs; 4 grandchildren Kevin (RoseAnna) Vicklund, Josh Boggs, Matt Boggs and Dawn (Ryan) McIntire. His wit and humor will be missed.
A Memorial service is scheduled for 11am, Friday, November 8 at the Faith Presbyterian Church at 44400 W. 10 Mile Road, Novi, Michigan, immediately followed by a luncheon in the church hall.
