Condolence Messages

#31 Sue Collins Thoms 2011-03-27 11:57 I was so sorry to hear of Mrs. Griffin's passing. Like so many others, I was fortunate to learn about journalism from her when I worked on Mercy's paper. The lessons stuck; I still work as a reporter in Grand Rapids. I am grateful for Mrs. Griffin's kindness and patience and dedication.
My deepest sympathies to the Griffin family. Wishing you peace and blessings.

#32 Jan Krygier 2011-03-28 10:08 I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Griffin's death. "Aunt Betty" was gentle and good-humored, sometimes feisty, and always committed to upholding the standards of good journalism. She led by example and was always thoughtful and supportive, even while taking the red pen to our writing efforts. As OLM Newsprint editor (Class of '76)I was able to learn from the master! My entire career has been spent in communications, and that is due in large part to her love of and skill in writing, which she was able to instill in so many.

My condolences to her family…she made a huge impact on us all.

My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I have great memories of visiting your family, Bauer's, Oswald's and Mueller's on Wildemere in the Gesu Parish during High School. Your mother was so kind to me. Kathy Hajj-Bree '77

#36 Pat Henry 2011-03-29 12:17 Please add my name to the long list of people whose life your mother touched. She was my journalism teacher at St. Mary's of Redford. She challenged her students and brought out the best in us. I can't help but think of her every time I compose something at the computer. I remember her telling us we had to just "think and write at the typewriter". Great teacher! Quote
